Chancellor Angela Merkel on Sunday instructed regional governments to take strict restrictions to prevent a third wave of the outbreak from expanding as the German outbreak enters its most dangerous phase. Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia is expected to reach mass immunization by the end of this summer, while some 5,000 people attended a local rock concert in Barcelona, Spain, over the weekend after being tested negative for the new coronavirus.

Merkel’s chief of staff Braun said on Sunday that Germany must reduce the number of confirmed cases in the coming weeks, otherwise new variants of the virus that are resistant to the vaccine may emerge, and a curfew should also be imposed in areas with a high number of cases.
