On March 25, Erin O’Toole, leader of the federal Conservative Party of Canada, held a multi-ethnic media conference call to answer questions from New Tang Dynasty reporters about violent attacks and intimidation against Chinese in many parts of North America, saying that the Conservative Party has zero tolerance for such violence and discrimination. He stressed that the Communist regime does not represent the Culture and history of China.
The attacks on Chinese people also come from the Communist Party’s influence operations in Canada
In response to a question, O’Toole said, “Chinese Canadians are under a double threat from some intolerant (racial) or white supremacist groups, but there are also foreign influence operations that occur within Canada, from the Chinese Communist Party.”
He responded, “The Conservative Party and all Canadians are outraged by the violent attacks, intimidation or hatred seen by Asian, Chinese Canadians. They (meaning Asians) have been concerned that they are being targeted, but we stand with you in the face of violent intimidation and anti-Asian discrimination, and we will send a signal of zero tolerance. As Canadians, we must all stand up.”
As leader of the Conservative Party, O’Toole said, “We want everyone to have a chance in Canada. It doesn’t matter if you’ve just been here for three months, or if you’ve been an immigrant for three generations.”
The Chinese Communist Party does not represent Chinese culture and history
O’Toole stressed that the CCP does not represent China. “The CCP does not represent the long, ancient, incredibly innovative Chinese history and culture, and the contributions [of Chinese] to the world. Chinese-Canadians bring precisely the same passion for ancient Chinese culture and history.” Chinese Canadians bring an ancient and rich culture to Canada, and they are proud of it, as they should be.
O’Toole stressed, “Chinese came to Canada in search of the extraordinary freedoms and opportunities that make Canada the greatest country in the world, so we will stand with you.”
O’Toole said the Conservative Party has a long history of prominent Chinese MPs who have carried on the Chinese tradition, such as Cheng Tin-wah, who was one of the first minority MPs. There are also Chinese MPs from Vancouver, such as Alice Wong and Kenny Chiu. There is also Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister Chuang Man Ho, “who is an amazing role model of people who are proud of their Chinese heritage and proud that Canada is the greatest country in the world, and we will work with you to stand up for Chinese Canadians from East to West.”
I hope the Canadian government recognizes the Chinese Communist group as extinct
In response to a question about the passage of a bill in Parliament that would recognize the Chinese Communist group as extinct, O’Toole said he was very proud of it. He said, “The world needs this kind of pressure to ensure that the situation of the millions of people who are currently persecuted can be changed in a positive way.” He hopes Canada will push for an end to persecution by working with its allies to put pressure on the Chinese Communist Party.
He said, “We want the Liberal government to recognize this motion and we want them to join with our allies in applying pressure. I would like to see the Olympics (next year’s winter) re-located so that the athletes are not affected. Or a clear commitment from the Chinese Communist Party to stop the detentions, the mass extermination and the unfair treatment of millions of its own citizens.”
He said it was disappointing that Mr. Trudeau had remained silent on the important issue of human rights and the protection of minority rights.
