The U.S. cultural center in Yangon, Burma’s largest city, was the scene of a shooting incident on 27th local Time. The U.S. ambassador to Burma confirmed the incident and said no one was injured.

Aryani Manring, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Embassy in Burma, confirmed and said, “We are already investigating the incident and there are no casualties at this time.

The U.S. has been concerned about the coup since February 1, when the Burmese junta launched a coup, and has stood with the Burmese people in condemning the junta’s use of force and bloody repression.

Today is also Burma’s Military Day, when the military held a parade in the capital, Naypyidaw, saying Burma’s soldiers want to protect the people and work for democracy, but at the same time, there were incidents across Burma where security forces killed at least 90 protesters. Anti-coup groups angrily criticized that today is simply a day of military shame.
