Korean citizens’ group calls on National Assembly to close Confucius Institute

A coalition of 15 groups in Korea recently held a press conference in front of the National Assembly, calling on the National Assembly to customize the closure of the Confucius Institute.

On the 25th, a coalition of 15 groups, including the Coalition for Liberal Democratic Unification Education and the Confucius Institute Nature Propaganda Campaign Headquarters (CUCI), held a press conference in front of the main gate of the National Assembly to urge the National Assembly to formulate countermeasures to expel the Confucius Institute, and sent a letter to all 300 Korean lawmakers informing them of the nature of the Confucius Institute.

Han Min-ho, co-representative of the Confucius Institute Nature Propaganda Campaign Headquarters in Korea: “The Confucius Institute is a propaganda, spy work organization for the Chinese Communist Party to propagate communism and Mao Zedong Thought, spread illusions about the Chinese Communist Party, and collect information about the country of residence and monitor the social activities of local Chinese.”

Cheng Zhongqing, patriarchal pastor of the Church of All Souls: “If the world is to be good, Chinese communism must fall, but the Communist Party, led by Xi Jinping, has set up Confucius Institutes around the world in an attempt to communize the world.”

As the nature of the Confucius Institutes as overseas propaganda work for the Communist Party continued to be exposed, a worldwide campaign began to shut them down, and the world’s first Confucius Institute was established in Seoul, South Korea, when the Korean public was unaware of the danger of the Communist Party.

Lee Gung-ja, a joint representative of Save Public Education Parents: “We didn’t know what politics was, and from what day we found out that (Confucius Institutes) were indoctrinating children through education, a practice that made people angry and made sure to close and expel Confucius Institutes.”

Han Min-ho, co-representative of the Headquarters of the Campaign for the Nature of Confucius Institutes in Korea: “The Korean government is not even aware of the existence of Confucius Institutes and is very unconcerned about it, ignoring such a serious problem, and from now on the Korean government should speed up the investigation of the nature of Confucius Institutes and work out countermeasures with the National Assembly, and citizens’ groups.”

The organizers of the event hope that through the day’s activities, they will draw the attention of the members of the National Assembly and the Korean government to confront and resist the infiltration of the Chinese Communist Party together.
