Maotai Group is accused of having 22 fake journalists and requests for deletion were rejected

On March 24, the mainland WeChat public number “No Serious Speech” published “According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 20 fake journalists in Maotai” questioning the identity of many “journalists” of Maotai Group.

According to the article, there are 22 so-called “journalists” signed on Guizhou Maotai’s public website, but the information of these 22 journalists and their press cards issued by the State Press and Publication Administration of the Communist Party of China (SPPA) cannot be found on the online website of Chinese journalists. Therefore, the article suspects that “these 22 people are fake journalists”.

The article argues that it is not wrong to expect more from the number one wine company with a market capitalization of over 2.5 trillion yuan (as of March 23, 2021). And after all, Maotai Group’s public website is not just for internal employees. It should be more standardized if it is released to the public.

However, the publisher was recently asked to delete the article by Maotai Group personnel, March 25, the publisher revealed to Red Star News, after the article was released, a self-proclaimed “Maotai Group Publicity Department staff” before and after he “communication” for 14 hours. “I think the impact is bad, I hope to delete the article”. But the publisher refused.

The author of the article “Mr. T” (more than 20 years of senior media professionals) confirmed that the person with whom he communicated was quite polite and restrained. The person also, the article has been disseminated a lot, in order to avoid triggering negative public opinion, or hope to delete the article. “Mr. T” said that after repeatedly deliberating over the article many times, he believes that there is no problem, so there is no need to delete the article.

The report said, open Guizhou Maotai official WeChat public number can be seen, there are a large number of sources for Maotai Group Fusion Media Center articles, are directly signed as “reporter”.

It is reported that the Maotai Group Fusion Media Center was officially launched in April 2019, and is an internal Maotai news media integrated on the basis of the editorial board of Maotai Times, Maotai Radio and Television Station and the Information Center.

At present, the relevant departments of Maotai Group have not yet responded to the matter.

The article of WeChat public number “No Serious Speech” gives an example that there was once a “China’s most bullish journalist” in Maotai. This person’s name is Yuan Renguo (former chairman of Guizhou Maotai Wine Group). Yuan’s press card, which was obtained by Consumer Daily through the submission of false information, was cancelled at the end of 2012. Then later, Yuan Renguo made an appearance on the Communist Party’s CCTV as a corrupt official.

On Sept. 6, 2019, Yuan Renguo’s bribery case went to trial. He was accused of engaging in power and money deals, using the right to operate Maotai wine to climb on the coattails of people such as Wang Xiaoguang, a former member of the Standing Committee of the Guizhou Provincial Committee and vice governor, and Wang Sanyun, a former secretary of the Gansu Provincial Committee who was a deputy secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Committee.

According to the official Communist Party of China feature film, in 2009, when the price of Maotai wine was soaring, Wang Xiaoguang, through Yuan Renguo, then general manager of Maotai Group, and other people, successively obtained the operating rights of four licensed Maotai wine stores for his Family and relatives. over the past seven years, the four stores received a total of 131.48 tons of Maotai wine quota, making a profit of more than 40 million yuan. In addition, Wang Xiaoguang also faked 61 units in the name of Yuan Rengguo and approved many additional indicators to sell for profit.

Since 2004, Yuan Renguo’s wife and children alone have made a profit of more than 230 million yuan from the illegal operation of Maotai wine.

According to the investigation, Yuan Renguo related to the “relationship store” information up to hundreds, involving both cadres, provincial cadres, but also involving many county-level, township-level cadres. In Renhuai City, where the Maotai distillery is located, many of the 124 cadres involved in the operation of Maotai liquor used relatives and nepotism to obtain the right to operate through Yuan Renguo or his wife.

A source close to Maotai’s management told the land media that Yuan Renguo’s tenure was marked by serious “irregularities in the granting of licenses” that led to Maotai’s distribution system gradually spiraling out of control, with many dealers hoarding and speculating on Maotai prices. The grant refers to the authorization of Maotai wine distribution qualifications, Yuan Renguo grant the strip most of the large dealers have extraordinary background.

Guizhou Maotai is said to be the “national wine” of the Communist Party of China. In recent years, Maotai Group corruption cases have been frequent, and many senior people have fallen from grace. In addition to Yuan Renbao, there were also former Party Secretary and General Manager Liu Zili; former Party Committee member and Vice General Manager Gao Shouhong; former Vice General Manager of Maotai Group Fang Guoxing; former Vice General Manager and Chief Financial Officer of Guizhou Maotai Tan Dinghua; former Assistant General Manager of Maotai Liquor Co. Ltd. and former Vice Chairman and General Manager Xiao huawei, etc.
