Maotai Group was exploded with 22 fake journalists, the publisher said someone spent 14 hours to promote the deletion of the article

The WeChat public number “No Serious Speech” recently posted an article questioning the identity of a number of “journalists” of Maotai Group. In the article titled “According to incomplete statistics, Maotai has more than 20 fake journalists”, it is pointed out that there are 22 so-called “journalists” signed on Guizhou Maotai’s public website, but the data of these 22 people and their press cards cannot be found on the “China Journalists Network” of the State Press and Publication Administration. “The article suspected that “these 22 people are fake journalists”.

After the article came out, a person claiming to be from Maotai Group “communicated” for 14 hours before and after, “believing that the impact was bad and hoping to delete the article”. In this regard, the publisher said refused.

Open Guizhou Maotai official WeChat public number can be seen, there are a large number of sources for the Maotai Group Fusion Media Center articles, are directly signed as “reporter”.

The report said, logging on to the National Press and Publication Administration’s “China Journalist Network” to find, indeed, can not find these people’s “journalist” identity.

According to the relevant national regulations, the press card is a valid proof of the identity of journalists, without the press card issued by the State Press and Publication Administration, it is a violation to sign the name “reporter”.

According to People’s Daily Online, Maotai Group’s Integrated Media Center, which was launched in April 2019, is an internal Maotai news media integrated on the basis of the editorial committee of Maotai Times, Maotai Radio and Television Station and the Information Center. Maotai, as a mega-enterprise, even has its own radio and television station.

Some communication experts have pointed out that the Maotai Group’s integrated media center is not a news organization, and its workers should not call themselves “journalists” but “authors” or just sign their names.

According to the report, Maotai Group was quick to improve on the issue in its subsequent updated article. In the latest article, Zhao Jianning, who previously signed himself as a reporter, no longer calls himself a “reporter” but instead signs himself as “Graphic/Zhao Jianning”.

Interestingly, Maotai Group once had one of the “most bullish journalists in China” – Yuan Renguo. During his tenure as chairman of Maotai, Yuan held a press card from the Consumer Daily. The photo of Yuan’s press card from the Internet shows that it was issued in 2009, and the annual inspection was done in 2010, 2011 and 2012. This also means that Yuan Renguo held a press card for four years in violation of the law.

Another commentary article says that the Maotai Media Center has published many “reports” in the name of journalists, and no matter which case they belong to, they may not be able to escape the suspicion of violation. In this case, Maotai Group should come forward to give the public an answer.

In the latest article on Guizhou Maotai’s official WeChat public number, Zhao Jianning, who previously signed himself as a reporter, no longer calls himself a “reporter” but instead signs himself as “Graphic/Zhao Jianning”.
