China’s huawei Treasurer Meng Wanzhou has suffered another setback! Her legal team was hoping to submit new evidence in the extradition case, but a Canadian judge rejected the written evidence, saying it was not relevant to the extradition hearing, the third Time Meng’s legal team’s request was denied.
According to foreign media reports, Meng’s legal team’s request to admit an affidavit from Huawei’s accountant as evidence was denied by Deputy Chief Justice Heather Holmes, who said the “evidence” was not relevant to the extradition hearing, as Meng’s extradition trial continued in the Supreme Court of British Columbia on Tuesday.
This is the third time Meng’s legal team has filed a similar legal action, having asked in February and last week for testimony from Huawei employees to be admitted as evidence in court, but all three times to no avail; Canadian prosecutor Robert Frater also denied the conspiracy theory put forward by Meng’s legal team.
If Meng’s legal team does not appeal again, the case is expected to be closed in May, the newspaper said.
