Republican U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida told a reporter this week that he is concerned about unidentified flying objects (UFOs) flying over U.S. military bases.
When asked about the UFO at Reagan National Airport near Washington, Rubio said, “Something is flying over a military installation and nobody knows what it is. It’s not ours.” “That’s common sense, right?” He asked.
Rubio is a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee (SCI) and served as its chairman until he was replaced by a Democrat this year.
Rubio’s comments coincided with the release of a report on UFOs by the Pentagon and intelligence agencies scheduled for June.
Rubio told reporters from U.S. media outlet TMZ on Monday (22), “I think the concern is that there are things flying over our facilities. We don’t know what they are. Do you understand what I mean? That’s the problem.”
The TMZ reporter then asked Rubio if aliens from outer space or the Chinese Communist Party posed a significant threat to the United States.
Rubio responded, “Something is flying over the top of our military installations, and they don’t know who’s flying it, they don’t even know what it is. So that’s a problem. We need to figure that out if we can.”
“We don’t know what the thing that’s flying over the top of our facility is, so let’s find out.” He continued, “Maybe it was (from) another country, and that would be bad news, too.”
Former National Intelligence Director John Ratcliffe noted last week that only a fraction of UFO sightings have been made public.
He told Fox Business on March 19: “When we talk about sightings, we’re talking about (only) objects that have been seen by Navy or Air Force pilots, or captured on satellite maps. Frankly, the motion of those objects is difficult to explain.”
“Those motions are difficult to replicate, and we don’t have the appropriate technology. Or flying at speeds beyond the sound barrier without a sonic boom.” He said.
Ratcliffe, who was a federal congressman from Texas, added that Americans would be surprised at the number of UFO sightings.
“When we talk about sightings, the other thing I’ll tell you is it’s not just a pilot (who saw it) or a satellite (who captured it) or some intelligence gathering.” He told Fox Business Channel.
“Typically, we have multiple sensors that are capturing these things, and some of them are unexplained phenomena. There are actually a lot more (sightings) than have been made public.”
Ratcliffe said the “sightings are happening all over the world” and called them “unexplained phenomena.
