The Japanese actor Tsuruno Goshi, who plays the role of Hitori Shin, was deleted by the Japanese production company Round Valley for his earlier solidarity with the Hong Kong social activist Zhou Ting and his solidarity with Taiwan in the Chinese Communist Party‘s crackdown on the suspension of Taiwan’s pineapple imports.
The latest episode of the Japanese anime “Zeta Ultraman Heroes” went online, and the main character’s footage was suddenly deleted by the production company, causing confusion and discontent among viewers and the actor, Japanese actor Tsuruno Goshi. Tsuruno Goshi has publicly supported Hong Kong people and Taiwan. Critics believe that the production company is self-censoring in order to enter the Chinese market, at the expense of abandoning the bottom line of values. (By Wu Yitong/Cheng Wen)
The Japanese feature film (Tokusatsu) “Zeta Ultraman Heroes” episode 11 on Saturday (20) online, this episode is “Heisei three” one of the main scene of Dana Ultraman, but Dana Ultraman’s human body – the face of Hideto Shin The footage, however, was cut by the film’s production company – Japan Round Valley.
On the 9th of this month, Hitori Shin’s character, Japanese actor Tsuruno Ganshi, tweeted that he had mail-ordered Taiwan pineapples in response to China’s announcement to suspend imports of Taiwan pineapples, thus showing support for Taiwan. In August last year, former founding chairman of the Hong Kong House of Representatives, Law Kwun Chung, tweeted in Japanese, calling on his Japanese friends to show solidarity with Zhou Ting, who was arrested by the police, and Tsuruno retweeted the tweet with the hashtag #FreeAgnes.
A picture of Dana Ultraman standing face to face with his human body, Noboru Hitori, was tweeted by Hiroshi Maruyama, a well-known figure in the Japanese special effects industry and Ultraman designer, whose face was deleted from the new online episode. (Hiroshi Maruyama Twitter picture)
He believes that some overseas film and animation production companies, including Hollywood, have compromised with Beijing for the huge market in China, showing the ugly trend of “RMB is more important than justice”.
Guan Yao said, “Such incidents of kowtowing to the RMB have become commonplace. In order to enter the Chinese market, Hollywood will cooperate with the Chinese Communist Party’s censorship authorities to make cuts and changes, sometimes even self-censorship, on topics such as Xinjiang, Tibet, Taiwan and Hong Kong. disney actually thanked the official Chinese Communist Party agencies that persecute Uyghurs in the credits of “Mulan”. It is really ironic that in the free world these conditions have arisen, and in a way these companies have become accomplices to the Chinese Communist rule.
Yang Haiying, a Mongolian professor at Shizuoka University in Japan, pointed out to the station that the Chinese Communist Party’s internal control and external disturbances have caused China’s image to plummet in Japan, where a recent poll found that as many as 89 percent of people have no good feelings toward China.
Yang Haiying said: This Wuhan pneumonia issue, the Diaoyu Islands issue, and the Xinjiang issue, and the Inner Mongolia issue, so now 89% of the Japanese people have no good feeling towards China, and the anime industry all definitely have this idea. China’s attempt to include the world’s cultural expressions in its censorship system, including the American Hollywood film industry, the French literary industry, and the Japanese anime industry, has always had to consider the Chinese market and lose its righteous direction, which is a very frivolous and anti-intellectual approach.
According to French independent film director and current critic Wang Longmeng, Tsuruno Goshi strongly supports Hong Kong and Taiwan, showing the same courage as the character he plays, but Round Valley has actively turned its back on these values.
Wang Longmeng said: Ultraman has given generations of people the beautiful values of “anti-war, peace, bravery and trust”, which should not be dyed red by Beijing. Tsuruno showed the same values and courage as his role in supporting Hong Kong people and Taiwanese people who are being suppressed by the Chinese Communist Party, but Round Valley is actively emasculating and abandoning its values, and it is Round Valley that should really be boycotted.
Immediately after the incident, Tsuruno protested through social media, tweeting “The saddest thing in Life is to be betrayed by something you trust”. He also said in another tweet that he was looking forward to letting his 4-year-old son see his father’s active scene on TV 24 years ago when he was a superhero, and his son kept asking: “Where is dad? As a father but can not explain the reason, the kind of anxiety and remorse, probably no one can understand.
However, the two tweets questioning Round Valley’s cutting of his footage have now been deleted. The company has yet to provide further clarification on the incident.
Tsuyoshi Tsuruno’s earlier tweets in solidarity with Hong Kong people and Taiwanese were liked and retweeted by a large number of fans, but they also sparked discontent and boycotts by Chinese netizens. Currently, there is a lot of cheering on the internet in mainland China over the censored footage of Tsuruno, and he has been labeled as an “anti-Chinese artist”, and some Chinese netizens have taken to social media to say “Tsuruno has lost his cool”. Some Chinese netizens even put up slogans on social media, such as “Farewell to FeiBird letter”.
Tsuruno, 45, rose to fame in 1997 when he played Hitori Noboru, the human form of Dana Ultraman.
