The report points out that the purpose is to show Japan’s defense capabilities and to hold back the Chinese Communist Party.
Japan’s Okinawa Times reported on March 23 that the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force plans to conduct island emergency drills from September to November, which will be the largest exercise ever conducted by the Self-Defense Force. The last nationwide exercise in Japan was 28 years ago, and this exercise is expected to involve 140,000 SDF members.
The report points out that the SDF exercises may be in response to the frequent activities of the Chinese Communist Party in the waters of the Senkaku Islands, the purpose is to show Japan’s defense capabilities and to restrain the Chinese Communist Party.
The location of the exercise has not yet been determined, according to the Japanese Ministry of Defense, the national exercise has been held four times, this will be the second since the Heisei era (1989-2019). The last one was held in 1993 for 3 weeks with 140,000 participants.
