Musk says if Tesla Motors collects intelligence in China, company will be shut down

In comprehensive news, tesla has recently faced national security challenges in China, to which its founder Musk appeared Saturday to respond.

Images circulated online last week showed a notice from a Chinese military compound banning the driving and parking of Tesla cars in the compound due to concerns that such cars have all-around cameras and ultrasonic sensors that could lead to the exposure of military secrets.

According to another Bloomberg report, a source familiar with the matter revealed that the Chinese military issued a clear ban requiring Tesla owners to park their vehicles outside of military-owned areas. The Wall Street Journal also disclosed that the Chinese government has restricted the use of Tesla cars by the military, state-owned enterprises in sensitive industries and staff of important authorities.

Such news appears to put Tesla Motors, which was momentarily popular in China, in a bad light. In response, Tesla founder Musk told a video discussion at the China Development High-Level Forum on Saturday that Tesla has a very strong incentive to keep any information highly confidential, Reuters reported. If Tesla uses the car to gather intelligence on China or anywhere else, it will be shut down.

Musk also expressed hope that the two economic powers, the United States and China, would increase mutual trust.
