Thousands of people crowd the streets of Germany, and many in the crowd fail to take the most basic precautions.
Police clashes break out in Germany
In the large city of Kassel in northern Hesse, Germany, physical clashes erupted on the 20th between police and protesters who were dissatisfied with massive demonstrations against Epidemic restrictions. The police finally used a water column, batons and pepper spray to drive away the protesters from the scene.
German police said that the protesters were about 15,000 to 20,000 people, and it was a larger protest this year.
AFP reporter reported that when a group of protesters tried to break through the police cordon to meet with other protesters, a physical confrontation broke out between the police and the public, and the police used pepper spray. In other locations in Kasai, police also began using batons and water jets to disperse protesters who were trying to break through barricades and throwing bottles and cans.
Afterwards, a large group of protesters broke away from the permitted protest sites and fled to different parts of the city, where scuffles broke out with counter-protesters in the streets. There were also repeated attacks on emergency personnel.
In response, North Hesse police tweeted a condemnation of the protesters: “This is not how peaceful protests should be conducted.
The protest was called by Querdenker, Lateral Thinkers, Germany’s leading anti-Newcastle virus news (Covid-19) protest group, which claimed that the epidemic prevention restrictions violated their civil rights.
The number of infected people in Germany has risen rapidly despite months of a vaccine embargo. Experts have also warned that Germany’s vaccination campaign is too slow to combat the “third wave of the epidemic” that will follow.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the leaders of Germany’s 16 states are also expected to meet next Monday (22) to discuss the next step in the fight against the epidemic. Merkel said there may be no further easing of restrictions.
33 people arrested in UK protest against epidemic prevention measures
Thousands of people gathered in London’s Hyde Park at noon on the 20th to protest against the government’s anti-epidemic blockade, clashing with police and throwing bottles and cans at officers during the march.
The Metropolitan Police Service (Metropolitan Police Service) announced in the evening that 33 protesters were arrested for violating epidemic prevention measures.
England has been implementing the New Coronavirus Hox News (COVID-19) blockade since early January of this year, and since then, the diagnosis rate, hospitalizations and deaths have improved with a significant drop in the number of cases.
As a result, British Prime Minister Johnson (Boris Johnson) announced in February that restrictions would be gradually eased and the strict Home vaccination order is expected to be lifted by the end of March.
Serial demonstrations in European countries
In addition to Germany and the United Kingdom, about 500 protesters gathered at the Museum Square in Amsterdam (Amsterdam), the capital of the Netherlands. In Switzerland, some 3,000 to 5,000 people rallied in the northwestern city of Liestal to demand an end to the months-long closure of restaurants and other establishments to prevent the epidemic.
Demonstrations demanding an end to the restrictions also took place in Vienna, Austria, and Sofia, Bulgaria, on the 20th. They were holding signs that said “enough is enough,” but many of the protesters were not wearing masks.
