Biden‘s Department of health recently opened multiple licensed detention facilities in Texas specifically to house unaccompanied immigrant children. This week, Texas Governor Greg Abbott sharply criticized the Biden Administration‘s detention centers for unaccompanied immigrant children, with Governor Abbott specifically citing drinking water problems at the hastily opened DOH facility in Midland, Texas, which the DOH opened last month in Carrizo Springs, Texas, and which now has an outbreak of the C.C. virus.
Governor Abbott said, “The Biden administration has been an abject failure in ensuring the safety of unaccompanied migrant children crossing the U.S. border. It is surprising that unaccompanied migrant children in Texas who are housed in licensed facilities run by the Department of Health would also face unacceptable and inhumane conditions. There is no excuse for the Biden administration to subject these children to these conditions. By refusing to address the border crisis, Biden has not only allowed criminals such as human traffickers and smugglers to succeed, but has also exposed innocent unaccompanied children to disease and potentially unsafe living conditions.”
Governor Abbott concluded, “The Biden Administration must act now to keep these children safe, secure our borders, and end this humanitarian crisis.”
Governor Abbott went on to announce the deployment of Texas Department of Health resources and personnel to the DOH facility in Carrizo Springs to investigate, identify and combat the CCHD outbreak. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has notified federal officials of the need to address serious water issues at the Midland facility.
According to Breitbart News Texas, the DOH facility in Midland, which used to be a residential camp for oil field workers, has now found 53 of 485 immigrant youths, nearly 11 percent, positive for the CCP virus and has now suspended the transfer of additional unaccompanied children to the Midland facility.
The surge in unaccompanied minors comes as the Biden administration finds itself unprepared to handle the influx of refugees. Federal officials have opened a temporary facility at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas, Texas, to house 3,000 unaccompanied children, called a “decompression shelter.
Brian Harrison, chief of staff for the Trump administration’s Department of Health, told Breitbart News, “It’s just a name that the media and the Democrats have colluded to come up with to keep the American people from understanding the full extent of the destruction and crisis that the Biden administration has caused at the border.”
Sources in the Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector indicate they are still arresting 400 to 500 unaccompanied children a day. Agents are holding more than 2,100 unaccompanied children at Border Patrol facilities. According to the source, they are unable to transfer these children to a licensed facility at the Department of Health within the legal 72-hour period. Because of the need to wait for placement orders after a child is apprehended and boarded, this wait can be days or weeks, and most children are detained for more than five days in facilities at the border.
According to the Associated Press, approximately 9,500 minors are currently being transferred to DOH facilities.
