JAXA’s artificial satellite Kaguya Hime captured the image of the Earth slowly rising from the back of the Moon. This is a diagram.
People are used to seeing the sun or the moon rise slowly on Earth, but may not have the opportunity to see the Earth rise slowly on the moon. However, The Japanese artificial satellite KAGUYA has taken a picture of the rising Earth on the back of the Moon to make up for such a lack. As the blue planet slowly emerges from the darkness of space in the image, people may feel both amazed and familiar, after all, that is the Home they grew up in.
KAGUYA, also known as SELENE, is an artificial satellite of the Moon launched in September 2007 by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the national research and development agency in charge of the aerospace industry.
After orbiting the Moon and performing multiple missions for one year and eight months, Kaguya Hime ended its mission in June 2009, and JAXA guided it to crash on the lunar surface.
On April 5, 2008, Kaguya Hime, still in service, took a short video of the Earth rising from the lunar horizon while in orbit on the back side of the Moon (the side of the Moon that always turns its back on the Earth), and JAXA uploaded it to YouTube on March 24, 2009.
JAXA added English voiceover and graphics to the clip to help people from all over the world enjoy the rare footage and better understand the messages associated with the rising Earth.
JAXA’s illustration points out that the moon is on the left side of the screen and the earth is on the right. At this Time, the sun shines from the left side, so the left side of the moon, or the back of the moon, is bright, and the Kaguya Hime is located in the orbit of the back of the moon.
In the short film, the Earth with the sound of melodious Music, rising from the lunar horizon. After a short time, the entire blue planet all appear, let people’s eyes a bright.
The voiceover mentions that the sun is located directly behind the camera at this time, and its light is projected directly onto the Earth, looking like the full moon seen on the ground. It is no wonder that JAXA will be “Full Earth-rise” (Full Earth-rise) to describe this scene.
The voiceover concludes emotionally, “This is a spectacular view of the beautiful planet we call ‘home’!”
