Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has recently been embroiled in a sexual harassment controversy, with several female staffers accusing him of forcible kissing and sexual harassment, and now it has been revealed that he has abused his ex-wife Kerry Kennedy. Kerry Kennedy is the niece of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy, and the two were married at the Time as the envy of the political world, but after 15 years of Marriage, they divorced in 2005, ending the relationship; and now, 15 years later, it has been revealed that Gummo abused his ex-wife Kerry before divorcing her, forcing her to hide in the bathroom and spend countless nights with the door locked.
The American magazine “Vanity Fair” revealed what Gummer did to Kelly, and contributing editor Michael Shnayerson, who has been following Gummer for years and published his biography in 2015, described his personal Life as “a mess “.
Shnayerson noted that Kelly wanted to divorce Gummer as early as 2001 because Gummer had never done his fatherly duties, never once visited his children’s school, and never read any parenting books; when Gummer lost the Democratic primary for governor of New York in 2002, Kelly filed for divorce and wanted to live separately, but Gummer wouldn’t leave for six months and ignored Kelly’s divorce attorney.
Sources close to the case told Schneerson that Kelly was forced to spend more than one night in a locked bathroom to avoid physical violence from Gummer, and she couldn’t help but complain to friends: “I’ve always been a human rights activist helping women who have been abused by their husbands, but now I’m here enduring the same abuse. “
Schneerson said that Gummer later claimed to the public that the two were seeking a peaceful divorce, and even more so because he was worried that he would be blamed by the public and affect his political career, he put out the news to the media declaring that Kelly was having an affair, adding that the object of Kelly’s affair was a polo player, ranting to reporters, “She was with a Republican polo player.”
In response to these revelations, the governor’s spokesman denied them all, saying that their divorce was 15 years ago, that the revelations were untrue rumors and that time would prove everything false, and that “Gummer is a good father and his daughter will come out and prove that Gummer and Kelly are a good pair of Parents – and then we’ll know that those who are spreading the rumors are the real problem.”
