Sixth case of sexual harassment allegations still denied by Cuomo

Sexual harassment allegations involving New York Governor Cuomo have increased to a sixth case. The Times Union in Albany, N.Y., reported on Sept. 9 that in late 2020, a female director of a state department was summoned to the governor’s residence (Executive Mansion) by Cuomo, who then touched her inappropriately. The matter was reported to the governor’s special counsel on Aug. 8, and a complaint was filed with Attorney General Jen Lehigh’s office.

The sixth woman is an internal staff member at the state capitol, and the Times-Union has received information from an insider, but the newspaper has not released the name of the staff member at this Time because the person has not yet been contacted to make a claim, or for more details. However, the newspaper mentioned that the woman only recently realized that Cuomo had touched her inappropriately at the time.

In response to the latest piece of sexual harassment allegations, Governor Cuomo insisted, “Never touched anyone in an inappropriate manner and no one told me at the time to make them feel uncomfortable.”

On the 8th, state Attorney General Jen Le Ha announced the appointment of former federal prosecutor Joon H. Kim and attorney Anne Clark to lead the investigation into Cuomo’s sexual harassment allegations. The state announced the appointment of special counsel Beth Garvey as acting lead counsel on the same day that Kummer’s lead counsel, Kumiki Gibson, left the case.

Acting lead counsel Garvey issued a statement to the Times Union saying, “All allegations of which we are aware, directly or indirectly, are immediately referred to investigators appointed by the state attorney general.”

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul issued a statement on Aug. 8 after the state attorney general appointed an independent investigator. She said, “I am confident that everyone’s voice should be heard and taken seriously, and that the investigation will be completed thoroughly and expeditiously to give New Yorkers the truth.”

As the sexual harassment scandal continues to show no signs of abating, Cuomo’s mother, Matilda Cuomo, told the New York Post by phone on August 8 that she has always admired Cuomo’s ability to handle the situation and that her opinion remains unchanged. The Family is supportive of him and has 100% confidence in him.
