People show solidarity with 47 Hong Kong pro-democracy activists in New York’s Times Square

On March 4, the first day of the two sessions of the Chinese Communist Party‘s National People’s Congress (NPC) in Beijing, 47 pro-democracy activists were charged with “conspiracy to subvert state power” and 15 of those previously released on bail were “reviewed” by the Department of Justice. On March 5, the Department of Justice suddenly “released” them, and only four of them are now temporarily free. The current phenomenon of the Hong Kong government cooperating with the Chinese Communist Party in forcibly stifling the political careers of Hong Kong people is an unprecedented storm in the Hong Kong political arena.
