Amazon founder Bezos’ ex-wife and one of the world’s richest women, Mackenzie Scott, has remarried to Jewett, a nature teacher at a Seattle private school. From The Giving Pledge
MacKenzie Scott, the former wife of Amazon founder Bezos and one of the world’s richest women, married Dan Jewett, a nature teacher at a Seattle private school, and her new husband immediately announced plans to help donate a large portion of their wealth to charitable organizations.
Jewett, who teaches at Lakeside School, announced the Marriage on The Giving Pledge website. “The Giving Pledge is a campaign launched by the Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett to encourage philanthropic pledges from billionaires.
In a March 6 posting on the Oxfam Pledge Scottrade page, Jewett said, “God has blessed me with one of the most generous and kindest people I know and with her I am committed to donating my vast wealth to serve others.”
Jewett said he has spent most of his Life teaching and has never sought to accumulate “the vast wealth required by the Oxfam pledge.”
Scott, 50, ranks 22nd among the world’s richest people, with a net worth of about $53.5 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Since her divorce from Amazon founder Bezos in 2019, she has become one of the most important philanthropists of her generation. Last year, Scottie gave $6 billion, likely the highest amount ever donated by a living person. Bezos released a statement through an Amazon spokesperson saying, “Jewett is wonderful and I am happy and excited for them both.” Bezos is the world’s richest man, with a fortune of $176.6 billion.
