Breitbart News reports that Democratic Congresswoman Keiko Hirono has said that Democrats will repeal the “Filibuster” rule if Republicans block Biden‘s major bill.
Senator Keiko Hirono (Mazie Hirono) said on MSNBC’s “Sunday Show” that the Democrats would repeal the “Filibuster” rule if Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) continues to block Biden’s agenda, according to reports.
One way to get the president’s agenda passed is to eliminate the lengthy debate rule, which would make it possible to get things passed with a simple majority,” said moderator Jonathan Capehart (R-Texas). How would you convince President Biden to go along with that strategy?”
Hirono said, “When Mitch McConnell gets his way and decides to become an obstructionist, every major bill that President Biden wants, I think there will be a growing reality and recognition that we’re going to need to have ‘lengthy debate’ reform. And I’m open to that because if we’re going to keep asking for 60 votes, you can bet that Mitch McConnell is going to do everything he can to block every major bill that Joe Biden wants to get done. Mitch McConnell’s goal is to take back the Senate. That is, that’s what he wants to achieve. We Democrats should be very clear about what we need to do. So, “lengthy debate” reform, yes, it will come. I believe that.”

Filibuster, also known as filibuster or effort to drag things out, is narrowly defined as a deliberative tactic in which a small number of members of Congress, or even a single member, who are at a disadvantage, are unable to veto a specific bill or personnel, or to achieve a specific political purpose, and then use marathon speeches after gaining the floor to paralyze the proceedings, obstruct the vote, and force the party with the superior numbers to make concessions.
