The Ministry of health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) has announced a second case of severe allergy after the first case of severe allergy after receiving the Pfizer vaccine in Japan, which is currently undergoing vaccination for Wuhan pneumonia (novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19).
According to Japanese newspaper NHK, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare pointed out that the severe allergic reaction was caused by a female medical practitioner in her 20s who developed cough, fever, low blood pressure and difficulty in breathing within 25 minutes after receiving the Pfizer vaccine on the 5th, and after medication, the woman’s condition recovered and stabilized. It is unclear whether the woman has a chronic disease.
The president of the investigation committee of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare and the director of the Saitama Prefectural Pediatric Medical Center, Okamine, pointed out that the symptoms appeared within 15 minutes after the vaccination, and that similar conditions have occurred in clinical trials, and that care should be taken after 15 minutes of vaccination. As of 5:00 p.m. on the 5th, Japan has administered the vaccine to 46,000 healthcare workers, and there have been two cases of severe allergic reactions.
