Hillary Calls on Senate to Pass ‘Serve the People’ Act
Apollo.com’s Wenbo Li compiled that the House of Representatives passed HR1, a bill to reshape election rules, late Wednesday, and twice defeated presidential candidate Hillary said Thursday that it was America’s “once-in-a-generation opportunity.
Calling on the Senate to pass the Serve the People Act, Hillary said, “My friend John Lewis said, ‘The vote is precious. The ballot is almost sacred. The ballot is the most powerful nonviolent tool we have in a democratic society.’ We now have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to protect it.”
John Lewis (R-Ga.) is a former Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Hillary’s comments came after the House passed HR1 on Wednesday night, along party lines. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats branded the measure as a means of removing “barriers to participation” and called it “a big step for democracy. Republicans, on the other hand, have warned that the proposal’s provisions are largely unconstitutional, leading to a federal takeover of U.S. elections.
Before the vote, 20 state attorneys general sent a letter to the House and Senate leadership calling for respect for the Constitution’s Article I Elections Clause and Article II Electors Clause, “which give states a primary role in conducting federal House and Senate elections and an even greater role in presidential elections.”
In their letter, they wrote: “The bill would subvert this constitutional structure, hijack state resources, confuse and disrupt the electoral process, and erode confidence in our election and governance systems.” The 20 state attorneys general listed the bill’s many “loopholes” and vowed to take appropriate legal action if the bill becomes law.
The March 3 letter continued, “Despite recent calls for political unity, the bill takes a one-sided approach to governance that usurps states’ power over elections. Now, with confidence in elections at a record low, the nation’s focus should be on building trust in the electoral process. Across the country, the 2020 election has produced massive confusion and distrust, and the HR1 bill will only exacerbate these problems.”
The state attorneys general also emphasized that the bill faces “serious constitutional hurdles due to its regulation of congressional elections, including mandating mail-in ballots, requiring states to accept late ballots, overriding state voter identification laws, and mandating redistricting by states through unelected commissions.”
The attorneys general noted that the bill’s restrictions on voter ID laws may be the most “egregious” part of all the measures, noting that most states have some form of voter ID law.
The 20 state attorneys general vowed that “if the bill becomes law, we will seek legal remedies to protect the Constitution, the sovereignty of all states, our elections and the rights of our citizens.”]
USA Network believes that “The For the People Act is a rape of our Republic. Those anarchist, communist, socialist, progressive, antifa, racist, illegal-immigrant-loving, communist-loving, globalist-loving Democrats would destroy our republic forever if they could control America’s voting laws.
Others say the people will be sent to concentration camps after they pass the election and are in full power.
Others said: Biden and his henchmen want to turn our America into a communist dictatorship in Cuba.
They want to ship us Trump voters to re-Education camps in the desert!
