The two sessions of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) are being held in Beijing, and every Time this time some CCP members of the CPPCC put forward some odd proposals, for example, Xu Jin, a CCP member and member of the Jiu San Society Central Committee, suggested that the status of English as a major subject in primary and secondary schools should be abolished.

The land media reported on March 5 that Xu Jin said, “At the compulsory Education level, foreign language courses such as English will no longer be set as the same main subject as language and mathematics, and the percentage of quality education courses will be increased; English (or foreign languages) will no longer be set as a compulsory subject in the college entrance examination; and students at the compulsory education level will be prohibited from taking unofficial examinations in various foreign languages.”
According to Xu Jin, students and Parents spend a lot of time and energy to learn English, but English is only useful for less than 10 percent of college graduates. The low percentage of quality education courses such as Music, physical education and art is a real problem faced by schools at all levels. The problem of lack of class time for “quality education” can be solved by no longer making English a compulsory subject.
The proposal has sparked a lot of debate among netizens, both supportive and critical.
A netizen said, “This is deliberately only let the Family conditions good to go to extracurricular classes to learn? We can strengthen the language subject, but we can’t cancel English! Otherwise it will always be the students who suffer.” The company’s main goal is to provide the best possible service to its customers. ” The current trend of globalization still requires English as the main business language, so what do you want to do against the trend?”
Chen Jiangang, a lawyer who is a visiting scholar in the United States, said on his personal Twitter account, “CPPCC member Xu Jin, whose grandfather was Xu Deheng, the founder of the Jiu San Society, began learning English in Guangxu 32. Is this grandson worthy of your grandfather? The Democratic Party has become a good dog of the Communist Party and is loyal without the use of chains.”
According to public information, Xu Jin is the grandson of Xu Deheng, the main founder of the Jiu San Society, who learned the English alphabet in 1906 from his classmates at Jiujiang Elementary School in Jiangxi; from the age of 16, he learned English and mathematics from a graduate of the same school.
