“Refusing to Vote for Non-Citizens is a Criminal Offense” Rep. Brooks: HR1 Would Make U.S. Elections “Similar to North Korea”

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-CA) told the hosts of Sirius XM Radio’s “Breitbart Daily News” on Thursday that if HR1 were to become law, U.S. elections would be similar to those in the former Soviet Union.

Rep. Brooks said, “HR1 is the worst piece of legislation in the history of the United States of America, in terms of elections. It has had a more damaging effect on America than any legislation I have ever seen or heard of, and you won’t find bad legislation with that much impact even in the history books. For example, HR1 allows 16 and 17 year olds to register to vote and allows registration with multiple different source identification documents.”

“If you move from one address to another, you’re registered twice,” he continued.

Brooks warned that HR1, called the “For the People Act,” would facilitate electoral dishonesty if it becomes law.” This dishonesty would be massive.”

“HR1 would make it easier for non-citizens to have the right to vote in U.S. elections because it is a criminal offense for poll workers to refuse to allow non-citizens to vote. This is insane! This is the kind of legislation the Democrats are passing to tie the hands of our poll workers. Poll workers are then, of course, afraid to challenge non-citizens who try to vote in U.S. elections for fear of prosecution.”

“On another level, the 2005 bipartisan report said we need to minimize mass mail-in ballots and minimize absentee voting because that’s where things are most likely to go wrong,” Brooks added.” Yet, what have Democrats done? They’re dramatically expanding the size of the mail-in ballot.”

Brooks said, “There are dozens of provisions in the HR1 legislation that undermine the sanctity and accuracy of elections, and the massive election problems we see in a handful of places across the country in 2020 will become commonplace across America later.”

“In short, under HR1’s bill, the reliability and credibility of U.S. elections will resemble those of the former Soviet Union, or of Cuba, or of Venezuela, or of North Korea. Sure, you can vote, but your vote doesn’t count.”

The moderator commented, “It also allows Democrats to have a permanent majority. If HR1 passes, the Republicans will never win another election.”

Brooks concluded, “Republicans don’t steal elections. Democrats do.”
