Central American migrants kneel in prayer during a protest at the U.S.-Mexico border area on March 2, 2021.
A group of migrants gathered at the U.S.-Mexico border on Tuesday (March 2) to protest and demand that U.S. President Joe Biden release them into the United States as he has done with thousands of other border crossers.
About 100 foreign nationals from Mexico, Central America, Haiti and Cuba protested in the SanYsidro area of San Diego (Santiago), just north of Tijuana, Mexico, which borders the United States, demanding that the Biden Administration allow them to enter the United States.
The group was dressed in uniform and stood out. They wore T-shirts with the words “Biden please let us in” and held signs saying “Biden – please let me in”.
In an interview with AFP, some of them said that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) allows other immigrants to enter the U.S. to await asylum proceedings and that they should be treated the same way by Biden.
“We want an answer from your president, we want someone to come out and give us an answer.” One protester told a nearby U.S. immigration official.
According to Breitbart News, Biden has rescinded the Trump administration’s “Remain in Mexico” policy, and the Biden administration has been admitting thousands of immigrants into the U.S. each week of the 25,600 who are waiting in Mexico.
Recently, reports have confirmed that more than 100 of the migrants have tested positive for the Chinese Communist virus, but they are still being released into communities in Texas.
Two Democratic lawmakers warned this week that Biden’s immigration policies are creating a border crisis that would be disastrous for both their party and the country.
Texas Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) said the Biden administration should not overly ease illegal immigration, which would affect voters, local hospitals and the spread of the Chinese Communist virus, the U.S. news site Axios reported. Cuellar wants the administration to continue using Trump-era immigration policies, at least for the duration of the pandemic.
Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, a Texas Democrat, said in a CNN interview this week that he has focused on cross-border immigration in the Texas area in recent weeks, with 5,000 people who have been waiting at the border for two years. This is sending a message to Central America and the rest of the world, “I can assure you” that soon there will be thousands of people at the border.
Gonzalez believes that a better plan is needed, not policies that incentivize people to make the 2,000-mile trek and enrich cartels and human traffickers.
