The World health Organization (WHO) sent a team of investigators to China to study the source of the virus in Wuhan pneumonia (novel coronavirus disease, Covid19), which has become a global disaster, and is expected to release its final report the week of March 14 and 15.
Reuters reports that Peter Ben Embarek, head of the team, said the report will be published the week of March 14-15, and that at the end of the mission last month, he said the virus may have originated in bats but had not yet determined how it spread to humans, and ruled out the possibility that the virus was leaked from a laboratory. Michael Ryan, executive director of the WHO’s public health emergency program, said the team made a worthy contribution and we can discuss the report. WHO Secretary General Tan Desai said that all the processes involved in the journey will be presented transparently.
Previously, WHO had said that the investigation team would issue an interim report, but Embarek said that the interim report would be published along with the final report.
