The most fiercely fined patent infringement lawsuit in history Intel lost

The U.S. semiconductor giant Intel lost a patent infringement case in Waco, Texas, and was awarded nearly $2.18 billion in damages, one of the heaviest fines in U.S. patent infringement litigation in history.

Reuters reports, the United States Texas Waco County Court 2 found that Intel (Intel) infringement of two patents owned by VLSI Technologies, and ruled that Intel needs to pay about 1.5 billion and $675 million in damages for infringement of the two patents, respectively. It is reported that the amount of the above award is about half of Intel’s revenue in the fourth quarter of last year.

For the court’s decision, Intel vowed to appeal, and expressed confidence in winning the case.
