The Washington Examiner reported Tuesday that Rasmussen conducts a 10,000-person poll in each of the first full months after a new president is inaugurated, and one of the polls asks voters what they think about the direction of the country. This year’s Rasmussen poll of 10,000 people found that 57 percent of Americans believe the United States is on the wrong path under Biden‘s administration, compared to just 50 percent of voters four years ago who said Trump‘s path was not the right one.
A Rasmussen poll four years ago showed that in the first month of Trump’s term, 44 percent of voters thought Trump was leading America on the right track, while 50 percent thought America was on the wrong path, a difference of only 6 percentage points. However, under Biden, there is a 20-point difference in the number of people who believe the country is on the right track or not, with 57 percent saying the U.S. is on the wrong path and only 37 percent saying the U.S. is on the right track.
Compared to four years ago, the number of voters who think the U.S. is on the right path has decreased by 7 percentage points, and the number of people who say the U.S. is now on the wrong path has increased correspondingly, by 7 percentage points. Some commenters say this shows that the American public is waking up.
Readers should note that most media polls give too much weight to the Democratic Party. For example, in the most recent Biden approval poll done by Ipsos and Reuters, 45% of respondents were Democrats. This Rasmussen poll of 10,000 people, on the other hand, has 38% Democrats, 36% Republicans and 27% Independents, which is a fairer ration of all parties.
