In Hong Kong, five priority groups of people were vaccinated against Wuhan pneumonia (novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19) from Feb. 26. This is the first case of death in Hong Kong after the administration of Chinese vaccines, but it is not yet possible to determine whether the death is related to the vaccine.
According to a comprehensive Hong Kong media report, the 63-year-old man went to a vaccination center on the 26th of last month accompanied by a friend to receive the Kexing vaccine, and was suddenly taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment on the 27th.
The report pointed out that the man himself suffered from diabetes, hypertension and heart disease and other chronic diseases, it is not yet possible to determine whether the death is directly related to the vaccine; in this regard, the Hong Kong Department of health said that they will refer the case to the Wuhan Pneumonia Vaccine Clinical Event Assessment Expert Committee for causality assessment as soon as possible, and will release the assessment results in due course.
