Italian researchers found that health care workers with obesity produced only about half as many antibodies after a second dose of the vaccine compared to healthy people.
While it is too early to know what this means for the efficacy of the vaccine, it may suggest that people with obesity need to receive an additional booster dose to ensure they are adequately protected from the virus.
