Xiang Huaqiang and his son’s application for residence in Taiwan was rejected

Taiwan‘s Ministry of the Interior (MOI) said on the 25th that the application for residence in Taiwan by the Xiang and his son in Hong Kong had been reviewed by the relevant authorities, and it was found that there were circumstances under which permission to enter and reside in Taiwan for Hong Kong and Macau residents was denied, as stipulated in Article 22 of the “Regulations for the Entry and Residence of Hong Kong and Macau Residents”.

However, the Immigration Department of the Ministry of the Interior said that it is not convenient to answer the detailed reasons for the denial because it involves personal privacy.

According to Taiwan’s Liberty Times, the joint review meeting of Taiwan’s Immigration Department, National Security Bureau and the Mainland Affairs Council has rejected the applications of Xiang Huaqiang and his son Xiang Zuo to stay in Taiwan as relatives based on “national security reasons”, and the relevant documents have been sent to the parties concerned.

The Liberty Times reported that according to a state security investigation, Xiang Huaqiang was the honorary vice president of the China Film Foundation, which has strong ties to the Chinese Communist Party, and the foundation conducts red propaganda for the Beijing government, and in recent years has hosted national defense Education screenings for the Chinese Communist Party. The police unit found that Xiang Huaqiang had a record of “criminal record” in Taiwan in his early years and had been refused entry by the Immigration Department several times. The report also said that Xiang Zuo’s Family has a long history with the Xin Yi An gang in Hong Kong.

The report also said that Xiang Zuo is now a member of the All-China Youth Federation, a united front organization under the Communist Youth League, and that security agencies believe that “Chinese communist mission migrants” cannot be ruled out.
