The 100th anniversary of Hua Guofeng’s birth was marked in high profile by Xi Jinping, who was seen as taking the opportunity to deny his sworn enemy Deng Xiaoping. But the response from governments around the world has been lukewarm, with only the top brass in Hua Guofeng’s hometown of Shanxi province following suit, not only holding the first commemorative event for Hua Guofeng, but also touting Hua’s party spirit and loyalty.
According to Shanxi Daily, on February 22, Shanxi Province commemorates the 100th anniversary of Hua Guofeng’s birth symposium held in Taiyuan. Lin Wu, deputy secretary of the provincial party committee and governor, presided over the meeting. Provincial CPPCC Chairman Li Jia attended the meeting. Provincial party committee standing committee, executive vice governor Hu Yuting introduced the Life of Hua Guofeng.
Shanxi provincial party committee secretary, the provincial people’s Congress Standing Committee director Lou Yangsheng attended the meeting and spoke. Lou Yangsheng touted Hua Guofeng’s “strong party spirit and loyalty to the party” and asked officials to learn from Hua’s loyalty and be more determined to stay aligned with the central government with Xi Jinping at the core.
The company is a former member of Xi Jinping’s Zhejiang branch, and when Xi served in Zhejiang, Lou was the mayor of Jinhua and secretary of the Lishui Municipal Committee. As a local hand, Lou echoed Beijing‘s commemoration of Hua Guofeng, an extremely rare practice.
Earlier, on Feb. 20, Beijing authorities commemorated the 100th anniversary of Hua Guofeng’s birth for the first Time in high profile. Wang Huning and Han Zheng, members of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China, attended the symposium. Mao Xinyu, the grandson of Mao Zedong, who has not been seen for a long time, also made a rare appearance.
In his speech, Wang Huning touted Hua Guofeng’s so-called revolutionary history, which set things right and saved his party and the socialist cause of the Chinese Communist Party. Wang also stressed Mao Zedong’s assessment that Hua Guofeng “speaks the truth and is an honest man”. He also asked the CPC officials to be cautious of their independence and friends, as Xi Jinping had asked them to do.
The company’s main goal is to make sure that the company’s products and services are not too expensive. Although they did not name Deng Xiaoping, the selective glorification of China is actually a very symbolic rejection of Deng’s line. This is a very important signal.”
Xue Chi, a scholar of Chinese studies, told the Epoch Times in an analysis that Hua was chosen by Mao in his later years, but was brought down by Deng Xiaoping. Now that the CCP is dying, the high-profile commemoration of Hua is an attempt to prolong the life of the CCP. Xi has chosen in many ways to return to the Mao era, and has even placed himself in a position to surpass Deng Xiaoping and to match Mao.
The book “On the History of the Chinese Communist Party” by Xi Jinping and the symposium to commemorate Hua Guofeng, the theme is one of listening to Xi’s words and following him.
The company’s main goal is to provide the best possible service to its customers,” said Xue Chi, highlighting Mao Zedong’s assessment that Hua Guofeng “speaks the truth and is an honest man,” which is not a false statement, but has a realistic focus, is to say to the “second generation” and Chinese Communist Party officials, so that they listen to the words. “The company’s main goal is to make sure that the company’s employees are honest and that they do not cause any problems for Xi Jinping.
After Mao’s death, he was involved in the arrest of the Gang of Four and the end of the Cultural Revolution, and became the top leader of the Communist Party, government and military.
After the end of the Cultural Revolution, Deng Xiaoping and a group of other CCP leaders were rehabilitated and reinstated. As Hua Guofeng’s political line was at odds with theirs, Hua’s “two virtues” were denied and he was forced to leave the core of CCP power.
The Chinese Communist Party called Hua Guofeng “loyal to the Party”. But ironically, as early as 2001, The Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun already exposed the news that Hua Guofeng had resigned from the Party.
In 2005, several media outlets reported that Hu had resigned from the Party on the grounds that the CCP had betrayed the legitimate rights of peasants and workers and that the CCP represented the interests of corrupt officials and capitalists. The media also reported that Hua Guofeng’s former chief of staff, Hua’s old security guard, Hua’s confidential secretary, and Hua’s full-time driver were among those who followed him in submitting his resignation report.
The news of Hua’s death on August 20, 2008 was only briefly reported on Xinhua. After Hua’s death, he was almost forgotten.
