Xinhua News Agency buys big screen ad in Times Square to promote Beijing’s image as a world leader in the fight against the epidemic

As the World health Organization (WHO) sent experts to Wuhan, China, to investigate the origins of the global Epidemic of New Guinea virus, and Beijing authorities refused to provide raw data on New Guinea, China’s Xinhua News Agency purchased a large screen billboard in New York’s Times Square to tout the Chinese government’s achievements and promote Beijing’s image as a world leader in the fight against the epidemic.

According to Fox News, the official Chinese news agency Xinhua has been spending huge sums of money since 2011 to rent a giant “China Screen” billboard in Times Square that runs 24 hours a day to indoctrinate Americans into the Chinese Communist ideology. Recent ads have focused on China’s “anti-epidemic achievements,” such as “48.52% recovery rate” and “cruise ships passing inspection,” while touting Beijing’s assistance to more than 80 countries and regions around the world to fight the new epidemic. The propaganda images included pictures of China helping countries such as Italy, South Korea and Japan in their fight against the New Coronavirus.

In response, U.S. Senator Rick Scott tweeted: “Who thinks it’s a good idea to allow the Chinese Communist Party to publish lies and propaganda?” Scott said it was Time to take down the “China screen” in Times Square.

The December 2019 outbreak of the new coronavirus in Wuhan, Hubei, China, infected 112.11 million people worldwide as of Feb. 24, 2021, and killed 2.48 million people; 28.26 million people in the U.S. were infected and died 502,000.

Some netizens commented after the report that if the Chinese Communist Party had reported the data truthfully, the world would have started a massive alert in February last year, and other countries would have adopted strict measures to at least reduce the disaster. But the Chinese Communist Party not only concealed the data, but also strongly protested against the imposition of China travel restrictions by any country. The Chinese Communist Party is guilty of hiding the number of infections and deaths, and now dumping the blame is like hitting someone with a car, which would have been an accident, and running away and lying after hitting someone is murder.

Another netizen wrote: the United States and Europe is impossible to advertise in China to promote democracy, and China can strut in the West to promote lies, and even humiliate the host country, the West still do not take action to plug the loopholes, only to see the money will end up more tragic.
