U.S. Supreme Court rejects porn star’s lawsuit against Trump

The U.S. Supreme Court dismissed a lawsuit filed by former model and porn actress Daniels against former U.S. President Donald Trump. According to court information, the porn star accused Trump of defamation.

Daniels, formerly known as Stephanie Clifford, came under the spotlight in 2018 when the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources, that Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen had paid her $130,000 as hush money not to reveal her relationship with Trump shortly before his nomination to run for president. The White House, however, denied the news.

Later, Daniels told the media that an unnamed man had threatened her and her children over information about her relationship with Trump that she had made public, and Trump accused Daniels of lying. In response, Daniels sued Trump in court for defamation, but a New York court dismissed it.

The U.S. Supreme Court said Feb. 22 that it refused to hear the porn star’s suit, but did not provide a detailed explanation of the decision.
