Biden apologizes to Europe for Trump, promises to work with “friend” Merkel

The Breitbart News reported Friday that Biden assured European leaders that day that the United States would once again work with Europe and apologized for what former President Trump did when he was in office.

Biden spoke Friday via the Internet at the Munich Security Conference (MSC).

Biden said, “I’m sending a clear message to the world that America is back …… We’re not looking backward, we’re looking forward together, and the last four years have been tough, but Europe and the United States must once again lead the globe with competence.”

While Biden did not explicitly name Trump in his speech, Biden repeatedly lamented the damage to Europe’s relationship with the U.S. and promised a return to the status quo ante.

As part of his message to Europe, Biden specifically pledged to work with European leaders, including his “good friends” and “outstanding leaders,” such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel, a leader Trump challenged during his presidency.

The United States will work closely with our European Union partners, and with governments across the continent,” Biden said. Biden said he appreciates a “whole” European Union and spoke of their goal to unite against global competitors such as Russia and China.

“The competition from China will be fierce,” Biden said, “and that’s what I expect. That’s what I welcome.”

Biden said Europe and the United States must keep a “clear head” on future public spending and pledged to work to prevent threats such as climate change.

Biden issued a special warning about the threat posed by Russia and cited the importance of protecting Ukraine from Russian aggression. Biden stressed that “the Russian challenge may be different from the Chinese challenge, but it’s just as real.”
