New York State Assemblyman Calls for Impeachment of Governor Cuomo

State Assemblyman Michael Montesano called for Governor Cuomo’s impeachment after the New York governor’s secretary exposed the inside story of the state’s deliberate concealment of nursing Home deaths. Pictured is an elderly New Yorker waiting for a vaccination.

New York Governor Cuomo’s top aide appeared to admit in a videoconference recently to covering up the number of deaths in state nursing homes infected with COVID-19 (the Chinese Communist virus) to avoid a federal Justice Department investigation. In a media interview on the matter, New York Republican State Assemblyman Michael Montesano said he plans to ask the state legislature to issue impeachment papers against Governor Cuomo for the investigation.

According to a Fox News 12 report, state Rep. Montesano told Fox News, “We’ve been calling for subpoenas and hearings for some Time now,” and “I’m very troubled by this news in recent days, and I will be asking today for Cuomo to resign and ask the state legislature to investigate. If he does not resign, we will explore issuing impeachment papers against Cuomo.”

New York Secretary of State Melissa DeRosa (D) told top New York Democrats last week that the Cuomo administration kept data on deaths of nursing home residents who contracted the disease because they feared the Justice Department, which was investigating nursing home deaths at the time, might use the data to target the New York Statehouse.

“It’s criminal.” “The governor wanted to present the investigation against him as a political attack, and they (Cuomo) were apolitical,” Montesano said, “but they covered up the data and left us confused. Now she (DeRosa) has covered it all up by her own admission because she knew that the Justice Department was conducting an investigation into the nursing home issue, which many of our legislators in the state legislature, especially the minority party, have been asking for.”

“She obstructed the investigation, which makes the whole thing even more disturbing.” Montesano added, “If I had to make an educated guess, I believe she knew the Justice Department was investigating …… trying to do everything she could to cover something up, trying to get out of any mistakes.”

Secretary of State De Rosa issued a statement on Friday (12) denying that the data was covered up to get out of the DOJ investigation.

According to WGRZ, De Rosa said, “My explanation at the time was that when we received the request from the Department of Justice for the inquiry, we needed to put the state legislature on hold in order to deal with the federal government’s request first, and we notified the state House of Representatives at that time.”

Rep. Tom Reed (D-R.I.) told Fox News that he plans to file criminal charges against DeRosa.
