Tianjin Party Secretary Li Hongzhong once again to Xi Jinping to express “loyalty” ordered all party members to watch anti-American drama

Li Hongzhong, secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee, is known as “Little Lin Biao” and is used to slipping up.

The Tianjin Municipal Party Committee recently ordered all party members to watch the anti-American TV series, and also asked to report the viewing situation to their superiors. This led to a public debate. The party secretary of Tianjin, Li Hongzhong, who is known as “Little Lin Biao”, is trying to show his loyalty to Xi Jinping again in the name of anti-Americanism.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and an employee of the CPC party newspaper recently disclosed to Free Asia that the authorities plan to launch a retrospective report from June onwards to fully promote the history of the CPC to the Chinese public.

The Tianjin Municipal Party Committee has long been responding to the central government’s propaganda, issuing a notice on February 15, asking all Tianjin government agencies and units and groups to organize the viewing of the CCTV rerun of the anti-American TV series “Crossing the Yalu River”.

The notice said that watching “Across the Yalu River” is a reference material for learning and understanding Xi Jinping’s thoughts. It also asked that the viewing situation be reported to the General Office of the Municipal Party Committee by February 18.

The outside world believes that Li Hongzhong, secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee, is throwing himself at Xi’s mercy to show his loyalty to Xi Jinping in the name of anti-Americanism.

He is the first official to publicly express his loyalty to Xi Jinping since he came to power in the 18th Congress, and the first to shout out his support for Xi’s core.

In September 2016, after Li Hongzhong was parachuted into Tianjin as a hand, he publicly expressed his loyalty four times in just one month, vowing to be “absolutely loyal” and not to be a “wallflower”. Li Hongzhong is therefore known as the “chameleon” of the Chinese Communist Party officialdom.

The Hong Kong media has reported that Li Hongzhong has been ridiculed as a “little Lin Biao”, which is an open secret within a small circle. But Xi’s personal advisers tend to be wary of people like Li.

Li has repeatedly expressed his loyalty to Xi by “watching a movie. In July last year, as the Communist Party’s viral Epidemic spread, Li led Tianjin officials in a group viewing of movies such as “Gutian Jun” and “Moment of Triumph” in response to Xi Jinping’s June speech on preserving the red regime.

At the Time, the Communist Party was facing a global siege as its concealment of the epidemic led to a global pandemic, which led to a rapid deterioration of relations between China and the United States. Xi, who has tied himself to the CCP, is also in an internal and external situation, facing not only pressure from the international community but also rising voices of discontent against Xi within the party.

Observers believe that Xi is trying to fight to preserve his power position under the banner of protecting the party. And the touting and embracing of Xi by CCP officials like Li Hongzhong is not from the heart, but is really just a way to keep his own official position.

Recently, Xi Jinping spoke with Biden for the first time as U.S.-China relations are at a standstill, asking the Biden Administration to reverse its hard-line policy toward the CCP under Trump. Xi claimed that “cooperation” between the U.S. and China is the only option, and that confrontation would be “a disaster.

According to outsiders, Xi’s remarks underscore Beijing‘s eagerness to thaw U.S.-China relations in order to keep the Communist regime afloat.

However, many observers believe that the CCP is at the end of its rope, facing challenges from systemic corruption, economic development and social tensions, and is not far from collapse. Xi Jinping’s central position is also shaky.
