Former Trump chief strategist Steve Bannon predicted that President Trump will lead Republicans to sweeping victories in 2022 and 2024, U.S. media outlet Gateway Pundit reported Monday (Feb. 15).
Bannon spoke to Boston Republicans at the Lincoln Day Breakfast on Saturday. Bannon told Republicans, “I am absolutely convinced in my bones that Trump will be the Republican Party’s presidential nominee in 2024.”
But Bannon was not so generous to “Never Trump” leader McConnell. Bannon believes that the beginning of taking back the Republican Party is to get rid of Mitch McConnell.” Mitch McConnell has to go, he’s a poison.”
The Gateway Pundit said it agreed.
Bannon laid out a political roadmap in a speech to Boston Republicans on Saturday. Bannon explained how Republicans can take back their party, how they can take back the House in 2022 and how they can take back the White House in 2024, and that’s by sticking with Trump.
“McConnell doesn’t want any MAGA senators,” Bannon said.” You have to remember that in 2016, it was Trump who dragged Richard Burr (R-Texas) over the goal line, it was Trump who dragged Roy Blunt (R-Mich.), it was Trump who dragged Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) over the goal line.”
“If McConnell doesn’t support Trump, he can’t be a leader.” Bannon said emphatically.
