The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) still does not forget to send warplanes to harass Taiwan during the Chinese New Year. According to Taiwanese media reports, the PLA continued to send military aircraft on the fourth day of the Lunar New Year on Monday (15), flying into Taiwan’s southwestern air defense identification zone (ADIZ), and the Taiwan Air Force urgently lifted off to monitor the situation and broadcast a dispersal.
Previously, the PLA sent military aircraft to fly into Taiwan’s southwest airspace on New Year’s Eve last Thursday (11), the second day of the Lunar New Year on Saturday (13) and the third day of the Lunar New Year on Sunday (14).
According to the online platform “Southwest Taiwan Airspace”, which follows military trends, the PLA entered Taiwan’s airspace for 12 days this month, and the Taiwan Air Force broadcasted 21 times to disperse them.
The Ministry of National Defense pointed out on Friday (12) that during the Lunar New Year period, the three armed forces will strengthen their readiness and closely control all enemy dynamics. For the Taiwan Sea around the sea and air dynamics, the military will use joint intelligence surveillance to closely grasp.
President Tsai Ing-wen and Taiwan’s Defense Minister Yan Dehua also went to the Naval Command Taipei Operations Center to encourage the navy; Yan Dehua then went to the Taiwan Army Joint Operations Command Center to hold a video conference with the commanders of the combat zones and outlying islands to further grasp the latest situation in the surrounding sea and airspace.
In addition, Germany‘s Munich National Security Conference will arrange for leaders to deliver video speeches on Friday (19). Wolfgang Ischinger, chairman of the conference, said in an interview earlier that Taiwan is currently the most likely place in the world for military conflict, and he called for greater coordination between Europe and the United States on cross-strait issues.
Ischinger said in an interview with a local TV station earlier this month that Europe cannot ignore what is happening on the other side of the world. As long as the conflict between Taiwan and mainland China intensifies, the United States may send aircraft carriers to the South China Sea in order to defend Taiwan, while the mainland may unite with Russia to prevent U.S. troops from going to East Asia, which will lead to Europe’s involvement in the conflict.
In addition to the military level, once the conflict between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, the German automobile manufacturing industry will also face a serious blow. Therefore, Ischinger called on Europe to focus on security issues in Asia, to promote restraint in the South China Sea, but also stressed that on the mainland issue, strengthening coordination is an important transatlantic work.
The Munich National Security Conference is an important event in the field of global defense and security, U.S. President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and others will also speak at the conference.
