New Zealand today (14) there are 3 new cases of Wuhan pneumonia (novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19). As the source of infection is unknown, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced in the afternoon that Auckland, the largest city, will be closed for 3 days from midnight and raised Auckland to alert level 3.
After an emergency meeting between the cabinet government and members of parliament, Ardern announced that Auckland will be closed from midnight. Ardern said that the authorities decided to take a cautious approach until more information about the case is available. The case out of Auckland is another Home-grown case in New Zealand since the end of January. Officials said authorities are currently open to how the Family contracted the virus.
Alden said Auckland is on alert level 3, restricting people to stay at home except for basic shopping and work. The entire country of New Zealand will be under strict restrictions, while other areas of the Epidemic alert is raised to level 2 and will be audited every 24 hours.
The source of the infection is still unknown and authorities are investigating. According to reports, the confirmed mother works in the laundry department of an airline catering company, and officials are confirming the genetic sequence of the case’s infected virus to see if it matches past cases of out-of-state importation. Officials noted that as a precaution, the high school where the diagnosed daughter attends will be closed for two days starting tomorrow and will have a martial lung testing facility on campus.
According to New Zealand’s epidemic alert code 3, people should stay home as much as possible, travel is strictly limited, public places such as libraries, museums, cinemas, Food courts, gymnasiums, swimming pools, amusement parks and markets will be closed, parties are limited to a maximum of 10 people, and are restricted to weddings and funerals.
