7.1 magnitude earthquake off Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, at a depth of about 60 km

A 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck the same waters off Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, in February, at a depth of about 40 kilometers.

An earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale with a depth of about 60 kilometers struck at 11:08 p.m. on Feb. 13 at the Japan Meteorological Agency, and was felt in many parts of Japan. About half an hour later, 3 said that the country’s coastal areas may have some fluctuations in sea level, but there is no need to worry.

The intensity of the earthquake was so great that most of Honshu, Japan, and Hokkaido were felt, including Miyagi, Fukushima, Iwate, Yamagata, Aomori and Akita prefectures.

Among them were places that were severely affected by the March 11, 2011 Tohoku earthquake, such as Ishinomaki City and Naniue Town. According to the U.S. Geological Survey website, the earthquake occurred 90 kilometers east-northeast of Naniue Town in Fukushima Prefecture, reaching a magnitude of 7.1 on the Richter scale and a depth of 54 kilometers.
