A temporary hospital in Hong Kong built by China Construction Group (CCBG), a central Chinese company, to deal with the outbreak of the Chinese Communist Party virus (Newcastle Pneumonia) has been leaking in several places just after it was completed and has not yet been put into use, raising concerns about the quality of its construction. China Construction Group has been involved in a number of tofu-dreg projects in Hong Kong in the past few years.
Hong Kong’s Apple Daily quoted the temporary hospital staff as saying on Feb. 10 that the hospital had not yet opened, but water leaks had already appeared in its passageways, locker rooms, back stairs, wards and laboratories.
The report mentioned that some places keep leaking water, to use garbage cans or plastic buckets to temporarily catch water.
The temporary hospital, located next to AsiaWorld-Expo, has six two-story ward buildings, including 816 negative air pressure beds, funded by the Chinese Communist Party and appointed China Construction Group to build, and was completed and handed over to the Hong Kong government in late January.
China Construction Group was also contracted to expand the community treatment facilities within the AsiaWorld-Expo.
China Construction Group is a central Chinese enterprise that has been involved in many projects in Hong Kong over the years and has been frequently exposed to “tofu-dreg” scandals.
In 2016, it was discovered that the interior of the bathroom floor in Shui Chuen O Estate was loose sand and gravel interspersed with newspaper, rather than concrete. The ceilings of some other rooms were cracked or even falling off. At the Time, Apple Daily questioned China Construction Group, which said it was “only responsible for the construction work and will leave the project issues to the Housing Department to respond.”
China Construction Group is responsible for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong link project area, suspected of discharging untreated sewage directly into the sea. In addition, the group is responsible for two public housing estates (Kai Ching Estate and Hung Hom Estate) were exposed to excessive levels of lead in drinking water, involving a total of about 7,000 households.
And recently this temporary hospital was used to respond to the Epidemic. The staff highly questioned the quality of the project, which leaked water before it was opened, and wondered if other problems would arise in the future.
Last year, Wuhan also saw a tofu-dreg project in the square cabin hospital. In the video below, a large hole appeared in the roof of the square cabin hospital at the WMG gymnasium during the storm. At the time, a netizen left a message saying, “WeChat news disinformation, it disinformation I knew it was true.”
