On Jan. 8, Twitter permanently banned the Twitter account of U.S. President Donald Trump.
After the incident in the U.S. Congress on January 6, big tech companies in the U.S. have blocked Trump. Despite international condemnation, the tech giant’s “political censorship” continues. Twitter executives recently declared that the blocking of Trump’s Twitter account is permanent, even if he runs for president in 2024 and wins, it will not be unblocked.
On Wednesday (10), Twitter’s chief financial officer Ned Segal was asked in an interview whether Twitter would restore Trump’s account if he ran again in the election and was elected.
Segal responded that if an account is removed from the platform, it is removed, and “our policy does not allow people to come back.”
After January 6, social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter announced that they were shutting down Trump’s personal accounts, and the accounts of some Trump team members and Trump supporters were blocked one after another. Subsequently, top government officials in Germany, France and Australia have spoken out, expressing concern about “censorship of speech” by big tech companies.
