In a media interview on Tuesday (Feb. 9), former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo again urged the Biden administration to be on high alert against the Chinese Communist threat. He stressed the need to consider protecting Americans without minding Xi Jinping too much.
Republican Senator John Cotton also urged Biden to recognize the Chinese Communist threat, saying it is not enough to criticize Trump (Trump) without articulating his own policy toward China.
In an interview with Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” on Tuesday, Pompeo disagreed with the Biden Administration‘s comments on cooperation with Beijing and said Biden should think more about protecting Americans.
“We don’t have to worry about how General Secretary Xi Jinping feels,” he said. “We should be thinking about protecting the American people …… We have to face the challenges that the Chinese Communist Party presents to the United States and the world.”
Pompeo reiterated the need to “verify and test” the Chinese Communist Party
Pompeo said, “Whether it’s the Wuhan virus [the Chinese Communist Party virus] that has caused thousands of lives to be lost or the Chinese Communist Party policies that have destroyed millions of jobs.” Pompeo said, “They (the CCP) steal from us and then dump their (Chinese products) back into the United States, and the Chinese (CCP) military works to make sure they can be a great power.”
He said it is still important to judge a country by its actions, not “propaganda.
On July 23, 2020, then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in California on the topic of “Communist China and the Future of the Free World. He shared his experience in dealing with the Chinese Communist Party that “the only way to really change Communist China is to act not on what they say, but on what they do.
At the Time, he said, paraphrasing President Reagan, in the spirit of trust but verify, and in the case of China, “we have to distrust as well as verify.
Pompeo has always been a hawk on the Chinese Communist Party. Before he left his post as secretary of state, he declared the Chinese Communist government guilty of genocide against the Uighurs in Xinjiang.
Biden’s Criticism of Trump’s Policies and Failure to Outline His Own Plans Is Not Enough
Republican Sen. Tom Cotton also urged Biden on Monday that he must recognize the Chinese Communist Party as a threat. In an interview with Fox News, he said it was not enough for Biden to criticize former President Trump’s (China) policies without outlining his own plans.
“The new president must recognize that China (the Chinese Communist Party) is a threat.” He said.
Cotton referred to Biden’s views on the Chinese Communist Party during the campaign, “On the campaign trail, he (Biden) said that the Chinese (Communist Party) leaders are not bad people, that they are not our competition.” “Clearly, they are our most dangerous and long-term strategic competitor.”
Biden said last week that China (the Chinese Communist Party) is the United States’ most serious competitor, but on Sunday he added that he wants a conflict-free relationship with his rival.
Cotton said, “To simply criticize President Trump (for his China Policy), the first in 20 years to stand up to the Chinese Communist Party, and say he (Biden) would do it differently without specifying how he would do it differently is not a show of strength.”
