Scoop or help with leaks? Reporter hides close relationship with Biden’s press secretary – Axios reporter hides close relationship with top Biden staff during U.S. election process

The National Pulse, a conservative U.S. media outlet, reported Feb. 9 that Axios reporters concealed close relationships with top Biden staffers throughout the 2020 presidential campaign.

The New York Post noted that “Alexi McCammond, 27, covered Biden’s presidential campaign in 2019 and 2020 and met TJ Ducklo, the candidate’s press secretary at the Time,” according to the report. At the time, McCammond was in a relationship and Ducklo was “super single,” according to the article. The two became friends. They then started dating in November.”

McCammon, who is also a special correspondent for NBC and Microsoft-NBC’s MSNBC, revealed the relationship to Axios and asked to be “excused from the Biden interview.

“Since then, she has covered progressive members of Congress, progressives across the U.S. and Vice President Heather Hagley,” an Axios spokeswoman noted.

After November, however, much of her coverage continued to be associated with Biden. The relationship also raises questions about many of McCammon’s “exclusive” stories related to the Biden campaign’s communications strategy, given that Daklow served as national press secretary for the Biden campaign.

Prior to the announcement of his relationship with Darclough, McCammon had published numerous “exclusive” stories about Biden.
