Tesla, which has been selling enthusiastically, has kicked the iron in China for the first Time. China’s State Administration of Market Supervision, the Central Internet Information Office, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Transport, and the Bureau of Fire and Rescue of the Ministry of Emergency Management interviewed Tesla and asked it to “strictly comply with Chinese laws and regulations” and strengthen internal management.

Tesla was interviewed by the regulatory authorities, and the trigger was the Model 3 fire and explosion in Shanghai, but Tesla shrugged off the cause of the fire as the damage to the internal battery core caused by the impact on the high-voltage battery at the bottom of the vehicle. Xinhua, the official media of the Chinese Communist Party, criticized in the first article that Tesla excused that the ground moved first.

Subsequently, Tesla was uncovered that the batteries produced by Model 3 battery supplier LG Rakin Chemical (China) had been recalled by South Korea’s Hyundai Motor. The market questioned that Tesla’s sales had soared and LG Chem’s battery capacity in the Chinese market would double this year, moreover, it would serve as the exclusive battery supplier for the explosive Model Y model.

Amidst the wave of skepticism, Tesla announced only on the 5th that it was recalling 24,428 partially imported Model S vehicles, and 15,698 partially imported Model X vehicles.

The trouble is that another Tesla charging anomaly occurred in Nanchang, Jiangxi province, and Tesla “dumped the blame” on the State Grid of China, pushing that the current of the State Grid charging is too high.

The successive accidents made the public opinion point at Tesla, who was considered the first to dump the pot and refused to admit its fault. Under the pressure of public opinion, although Tesla apologized to the State Grid, it still could not quell the controversy, and it was this last straw that triggered the regulatory intervention to investigate.

According to the website of the State Administration of Market Supervision, five departments including the Chinese State Administration of Market Supervision interviewed Tesla and jointly interviewed Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co. on issues such as abnormal acceleration, battery fires and vehicle remote upgrade (OTA) as reported by consumers, Xinjing News reported. Officials demanded that Tesla must strictly comply with Chinese laws and regulations, strengthen internal management, implement the main responsibility of enterprise quality and safety, effectively maintain social public safety, and effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.
