Florida governor’s legislation challenges far-left tech monopoly: ousting conservatives from platforms is consumer fraud

U.S. media outlet The Gateway Pundit reported Sunday that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced legislation last week that would ban Twitter, Facebook, Instant Messenger, Google‘s oil pipe, Amazon and Apple, from content censorship and user data sales.

The Daily Signal reports that the Republican governor said those once-small upstart companies are now controlling the flow of information around the world.

Governor DeSantis said, “As these companies grow and expand their influence, the new technology companies become big brothers. There has been a decisive shift within the technology giants, from neutral platforms that allow for the free flow of information and ideas to “the enforcers of the preferred narrative.

On Sunday, Governor DeSantis appeared on Fox’s Fox & Friends Weekend. In a discussion with Will Cain, he talked about legislation targeting large technology monopolies.

Governor DeSantis said, “We want to make sure that we eliminate the de-platforming of candidates and of people who disagree and make sure that these big companies don’t interfere with our elections. “

“But we also have to look at this from a broader social censorship perspective, I mean, these big companies have the ability to remove anybody from the map. People use social platforms not just for speech, but a lot of people do business on them, and by de-platforming those people, that’s like destroying those people’s livelihoods. Just like Standard Oil in the early 20th century, the tech giants now have even more monopoly power. I don’t think these big companies should have so much power over the lives of Americans.

“This bill that we’re about to introduce does empower individuals. Under this bill, if the tech giants are going to de-platform you because of your speech and opinions, then that’s consumer fraud. Because these big companies are using terms of service to de-platform, but the reason they can de-platform against certain people is because they’re not enforcing those terms fairly. Imagine them de-platforming conservatives while allowing Ayatollah Khamenei to preach hatred of Israel and Jews. That would be consumer fraud.”

The Gateway Pundit had announced last week that more videos were about to be released in the case of the fraudulent ballots cast at the Detroit, Michigan convention counting center last Nov. 4, and the following Saturday, Twitter suspended the Gateway Pundit’s account indefinitely.
