The Pakistani army has encountered great difficulties in introducing high-technology weapons, except for its “all-weather allies” and Turkey, which have made it difficult for the Pakistani army to introduce American, European and Russian-made high-technology weapons.
Under the influence of India, France has announced that it will not continue to provide spare parts and technical support to the Pakistani army for French-made weapons, which seriously affects the Mirage 3/5 fighter jets and the Agosta 90B submarines equipped by the Pakistani air force. Although Russia and Pakistan often release news about Su-35 fighter jets, but the discerning eye to understand what is going on, once Russia to Pakistan to sell any weapons that may threaten India, India will make Russia pay a greater price in terms of military purchases, after all, the Indian market is by no means comparable to Pakistan.
In addition, due to the change in relations with Saudi Arabia, even forcing Pakistan to raise debt to repay billions of dollars of Saudi loans, Pakistan is now more towards Turkey, and Turkey’s own economy is not good, it is difficult to provide strong economic support to Pakistan, can only provide partial maintenance for Pakistan’s equipment of U.S. weapons, Turkey can provide very limited help, because the purchase of S- 400 problem, Turkey now obtains spare parts and technical support from the U.S. side also more and more unsuccessful.
Recently, Indian military experts have claimed that the Pakistani Navy’s future underwater mainstay, the eight Hangoor-class AIP-powered conventional submarines based on the Yuan class, will probably not meet the Pakistani Navy’s expectations. The Pakistan Navy had planned to install German engines in the eight Hangoor-class AIP-powered conventional submarines, but Germany has so far refused to issue an export license for them.
The first “Hangoor” class AIP-powered conventional submarine purchased by the Pakistan Navy is expected to be sea trialed in March this year, the second in July, the other two will be completed in 2022, one in 2024 and one in 2025, and the last two will be completed in 2027. If the German side continues to refuse to sell engines, it will force Pakistan to install its own “Hangoor” class AIP-powered conventional submarines with engines produced by “allies in all weather”, which can be used, but in terms of performance and reliability, it is difficult to meet the requirements of Pakistan. Germany’s refusal to grant an export license for the submarine engine is not only the result of simple pressure from India, but even negligible pressure from India.
