The United States and India will hold this year’s joint Army training exercise to continue to strengthen synergy between the two services.
The U.S. Diplomatic Corps in India announced Feb. 5 that U.S. and Indian Army personnel will conduct this year’s “Preparing for War” (Yudh Abhyas) joint training exercise Feb. 8-21 at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan, India. The joint training exercise was hosted by the U.S. Pacific Army.
The U.S. Army Pacific-sponsored exercise, which involves approximately 250 U.S. and 250 Indian service members, consists of a Command Post Exercise (CPX) and a Field Training Exercise (FTX). The CPX will focus on staff tasks in UN peacekeeping operations in a joint military scenario; the FTX will involve company-level joint warfare skills to improve joint warfare capabilities. The two exercises will be held simultaneously.
The U.S. diplomatic mission in India said the joint exercise focuses on improving joint interoperability between the two militaries through training and cultural exchanges, and fostering a long-term partnership between the two militaries in the Indo-Pacific region through their shared defense objectives.
