Fox News halts Dobbs show, Trump statement strongly supports

Fox News announced today that it has taken host Lou Dobbs off the air. Lou Dobbs is one of the staunchest Trump supporters in American television, and Trump immediately issued a statement in support of the suspension of his show.

The news comes just a day after election technology company Smartmatic filed a defamation lawsuit against Fox News and three of its hosts, seeking $2.7 billion ($76.18 billion) for falsely accusing the company of involvement in fraud in last November’s presidential election.

A Fox spokesman told AFP: “As we said last October, Fox News Media regularly considers programming adjustments and has plans to launch appropriate new state programming after the election, including Fox Business.”

A spokesman said the discontinuation of Lou Dobbs Tonight “is part of the restructuring plan” and that a new 5 p.m. program will be announced in the near future.

Trump issued a statement saying, “Lou Dobbs has always been great. Nobody loves America more than Lou Dobbs. He has a large and loyal following and will be watched closely.”

Lou Dobbs’ show has the highest viewership demographic on Fox-related programming, with an average of more than 300,000 people tuning in to his show each night.

Lou Dobbs, 75, has been a host for 40 years, including 10 years on “Lou Dobbs Tonight.
