Recently, Liaoning Shenyang XinXiangYueYe Time mother and baby care center was exposed to 14 newborns infected with viral pneumonia admitted to the hospital, of which more than a dozen seriously ill children were resuscitated using ventilators. The Parents questioned that the center had known about the condition for a long time, but hid the news.
On Feb. 3, parents complained that the center had caused pneumonia in some of their babies due to poor daily care.
The parents reported that after the first baby was hospitalized, the center never communicated with other parents. It was only when many babies became ill and parents were sent to the ICU of Shenyang Children’s Hospital one after another that they found out that all of the babies were sick.
Recently, Mr. Li, a victimized parent, reported sending his 13-day-old child to the care of the monthly child care center and was subsequently diagnosed with neonatal pneumonia.
“On January 24, my child and my loved one checked into the XinXiangYueTimes monthly club; on the 26th, the child had a stuffy nose and a slight cough. The so-called professional physician of the club told me that these were normal phenomena. I also believed it. But the symptoms worsened on the 28th and 29th.” Mr. Li said.
The clubhouse put Mr. Li’s children together in an 18-room nursery. “(After that) my children were pushed back to the room separately, each child was pushed back to their respective rooms. By (February) 2nd, the child had a high fever straight away. The monthly club found out that the matter could not be covered up, and sent to the hospital directly to the ICU resuscitation.” He said.
It is understood that 14 newborns have been diagnosed with pneumonia one after another in the monthly club, 12 of which are still in the ICU.
The victim’s parents, Mr. Chen, said the child had symptoms of nasal congestion and coughing at the beginning, but the monthly club told the parents to observe again and the condition was delayed.
He said, “If we had been told when the first case or the first three cases occurred, this could actually have been avoided. The child’s parents are angry that I should have been told, not that we should have been told to continue observation. The serious illness is all delayed.”
Parents speculate that, in addition to the moon center withholding information, may also be related to the management irregularities. The monthly club, on the other hand, said that it could be resolved through legal means and was unwilling to continue communication with the parents.
At present, XinXiangYueTime mother and baby care center has suspended business. After investigation, it is true that some of the babies in the center were infected with pneumonia. These babies were tested for nucleic acid and the test results were all negative.
